Artist Statement
Mystic Artist
It was a sudden psychic opening as a journalist in newsrooms in London that has informed my life and process as a visual artist.

From seeing only the surface of reality, I suddenly glimpsed beyond the veil. I crossed a threshold into the dreamworld that lived behind reality and saw the mythology and legend directing everything.

Now working primarily as a novelist and artist, visions and dreams inform my paintings. In my art studio yurt in the woods, I begin with the sacred, a ritual of incense, candles, and drumming. Using acrylic paint, collage elements, paint markers, and solvents, I download these mystical experiences onto canvas or board. The vision moves through me to create dark elongated figures, a sort of mystic old-world circus, where bright colors meet dark matter.

The theme of my work often centers on the Divine Feminine. With my art, I unpack what it means to be a woman this lifetime. I honor the feminine by acknowledging our trauma, and I transmute our bruises by painting them.
My visions mix with my personality to create a complex “selfie”, reflecting personal challenges that echo universal themes. I believe my art is the intersection where the purity of the soul meets the brutality of reality.
