MYSTIC EQUINE ART SHOW

It all began in 2020 with a dreadful confluence of events--COVID, my best friend’s sudden death in her horse barn, and wildfires that trapped her horse, Nazeeri, behind fire lines.

Zeb’s Wish rescues and provides sanctuary for elder and special needs equines while creating a healing space for humans and the planet. They focus on three areas;

1. EQUINE WELLBEING: They rescue, rehabilitate, re-home, and provide sanctuary for abandoned, neglected, and special needs equines.

2. HUMAN WELLBEING: They connect equines and humans in ways that provide healing and growth opportunities for both.

3. ECOLOGICAL WELLBEING. They manage the property with an eye towards sustainability, managing stream and pasture health and connecting people to the environment.

I painted the Mystic Equine art series in tandem with writing my sixth novel. The book is Young Adult and titled RED, about a traumatized teen and a rescued horse, who come together to heal. 

RED is part of the True Colors Series. The first novel in the series, BLUE, is a middle grade book published in 2025 by Our Street Books in London, UK.

Both books follow the same character, a mystic girl named Maisie-Grace (MG). Both explore the theme of our connection to nature.  In BLUE, Maisie-Grace's best friend is a Douglas Fir who is being threatened by loggers. 

My passion is expressing the sentience of all of nature. 

I began writing the horse novel a couple of years ago. And I began painting the horses about 14 months ago.

I'm a novelist, visual artist, and run a coaching business and could not figure out how to get it all done! So, aligning the visual art with the novel writing was a way to fold ingredients back in the dough.

They came to me in dreams. In visions. I'd go into the yurt and they'd emerge from me, and when they were finished, sometimes I barely remembered painting them. 

I did Equine Learning at Zeb's Wish -- a sort of equine therapy. I immersed myself in horses, and painting after painting emerged. The novel is still in progress.
